We anticipate inviting 1000-1200 applicants to participate in phone interviews after their applications are reviewed by one or more members of the admissions committee. Phone interviews are typically 8-10 minute conversations where the dean of admissions asks applicants about elements of their application. Typical questions include "How are you spending your time outside of class?" or "Could you explain this activity you listed on your resume?" or "How did you come up with that thesis topic?" Applicants are not expected to prepare anything special for this interview — they just need to know what they've done and what they put on their application! The main purpose of the interview is to learn a bit more about the person than can be discerned from the pages of an application.

Stanford Law School
The Admissions Committee does not grant interviews as part of the admissions process. However, applicants are encouraged to visit the school and can arrange to meet with a member of the admissions staff.

Columbia University School of Law
Transfer students are eligible to take part in the Office of Career Services' Early Interview Program (EIP) for 2L Summer Associate positions, which occurs in mid-August. In order to participate fully in this five-day program, transfer students must be admitted to the Law School at least one week prior to the start of the Program. Admitted transfer applicants must also submit their deposit to the Office of Admissions prior to their participation in EIP. Once these conditions are met, newly-admitted transfer students will be able to participate in the Program along with the rest of the rising 2L class.

We do not conduct personal interviews of all applicants and the Committee will not grant requests for interviews. Occasionally, the Admissions Committee will request an interview from an applicant if the Committee determines it would be helpful to the evaluation of the applicant’s file.

New York University Law School
In the past, interviews have been held in Washington DC, Purchase, NY and Oakland, CA. NYU School of Law will make arrangements for finalists for transportation to and lodging in the finalist’s interview city. Expenses related to transportation and lodging will be covered by the AnBryce Scholarship Program. A member of the NYU School of Law administration and a current AnBryce Scholar will meet finalists in their interview city and the night prior to the interview, a current NYU School of Law AnBryce Scholar (and possibly AnBryce alumni) will host dinner for all finalists.

While evaluative interviews are not a part of our process at Michigan, our admissions counselors are happy to meet with you and answer any questions you may have about the Law School or the admissions process. We also occasionally contact applicants to get clarification about certain elements of an application.

We do not offer evaluative interviews and/or meetings with members of the Admissions Committee during the application process. Applicants who have concerns that they wish to bring to the attention of the Admissions Committee should address those concerns in an addendum to their application. The addendum may be in the form of a memo or letter and should be addressed to the Admissions Committee.
